Eheim 2217 Canister Filter Entry Level ReliabilityThe Eheim 2217 canister filter is one of the entry-level filters from Eheim. Its design is based on years of filter technology development and has proven to be a reliable and efficient filter for mid-sized aquariums.The Eheim 2217 canister filter is designed for aquariums which hold about 160 gallons and the pump has a throughput of approximately 264 gallons per hour. The filter volume is 1.6 gallons and weighs in at 14.5 pounds. This unit consumes 20 watts of electricity. A variety of filter media can be used with the Eheim 2217 canister filter. Up to four layers of media can be installed to provide all types of filtering functions.
The filters serve the function of removing foreign particles from the water
while eliminating toxins and other dangerous material. This agitating action helps increase the efficiency of all the filter media. The second layer of filter media in the Eheim 2217 canister filter could be a filter pad. Eheim filter pads offer additional mechanical filtering thanks to their large surface area.
Eheim filter pads are made from foam materials that provide both
mechanical and biological filtering.
